EMILY HOLCOMB, MS, LMFT

Ft. Collins

Life is full of wonders and beauty; however, it can often become clouded with hurt and loss. I am here to help shed light to the wonders and beauty, not of the world, but that is within you. I believe we all are born with resources of strength and the ability to grow, but perhaps it has not been fully accessible. I am here to help guide and support you and your family, so you can create new chapters in your life that are healthy, fulfilling and meaningful.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in the state of Colorado and Wyoming. I earned my Master’s in MFT and obtained my Bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology. During my practicum, I worked within the school system. This provided me the foundation to work with students to address issues of bullying, academic difficulties, and family conflict. Upon receiving my Master’s, I worked as a family therapist for an adolescent residential facility for substance use and then moved to a private practice setting in Wyoming. This afforded me a widespread background working with individuals, couples, and families who have experienced relational issues, life transition challenges, emotional dysregulation, chronic stress and trauma. I also performed group therapy for children and psycho-educational groups for parents.

I believe in treating the whole person. I often utilize Solution-Focused Therapy, attachment theory/ARC, aspects of play therapy, and incorporate mind-body techniques (i.e. mindfulness skills). I recently was certified in Trauma-Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga that has been developed to treat complex trauma. I strongly value creating a safe place for individuals and families that embraces empathy, non-judgment, authenticity and empowerment.

“Today you are you. That is truer than true. There is no one alive who is you-er than you.” – Dr. Seuss
