Julie specializes in working with children ages 2-7. Her unique ability to connect and develop instant rapport creates an environment where children exhibiting challenging behavior, experiencing trauma, attachment issues, changes in family structure, ADHA, preschool expulsion and grief can communicate and be understood and helped.
Growing up in Oklahoma, Julie knew early in life that she had a passion for working with infants, toddlers and young children. She earned an AS degree in Early Childhood Education from Claremore Junior College and a BS in Psychology from Oklahoma State University. Her strong desire to study play therapy and her love of the Rocky Mountains and camping brought her to Colorado 25 years ago with her husband. Julie earned her MS in Agency Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Experiential Play Therapist. Julie’s belief and commitment to the work that can be achieved through play therapy is also shown through her ongoing involvement with professionals seeking experience and education in this field of study.
For that past eight years Julie has worked as a Play Therapist in Private Practice and a Mental Health Consultant to Head Start. She serves as adjunct faculty at Aims Community College in the Early Childhood Department. Her 35 years of experience in early childhood education allows her to provide children and their grown ups with the support, education and tools they need to set goals and achieve meaningful progress.
Julie enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors gardening, camping and sharing time with her husband, family and friends.
