Hello! My name is Dana Velazquez (She/Her/Ella) and I am a bilingual Mexican American from Dallas, Texas. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Family Life Studies in 2020. I moved to Colorado in 2021 because I fell in love with Colorado through my travels here.
I am currently finishing my Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado. My goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor and earn my PhD in counseling.
I have worked as a Medical Assisted Treatment/Substance Use Case Manager at a counseling center. I worked with all kinds of adults of all ages, including pregnant women, to help monitor their sobriety and to help with any struggles that may arise.
I have also worked as a child/family Care Coordinator who offered supportive counseling to families and individual kids, teens, and parents. I am currently doing a dual internship at a crisis center where I have learned many de-escalating techniques and have worked with a plethora of different mental health disorders and traumas.
I like to use a humanistic, client-centered approach with all my clients. I believe everyone is capable of finding themselves and making their own choices. We sometimes just need a sprinkle of help!
During my free time, I like to hike, play sports, travel the U.S., and spend time with my partner and pitty, Odin Duke.
