Meghan Ekins is a dedicated and compassionate counselor, with a solid foundation in psychology and family development. She earned dual Bachelor’s degrees from the esteemed University of Utah, a BS in Psychology, and a BS in Family, Community, and Human Development. Additionally, her commitment to fostering positive well-being led Meghan to attain a certificate in Positive Psychology during her undergraduate studies.

Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Northern Colorado, and undergoing training in play therapy, Meghan is passionate about applying her knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families. Originally from Salt Lake City, UT, she relocated to Colorado to embark on her graduate school journey.

Meghan’s journey into the mental health field began as a psychiatric technician at Huntsman Mental Health Institute, where she dedicated 1.5 years to providing care in the child inpatient unit. This invaluable experience fueled her desire to specialize in child and family counseling.

Her approach to therapy comes from a client-centered philosophy, emphasizing empathy and understanding, and she integrates positive psychology and psychoeducation into her practice as well. Her compassionate nature allows her to tailor the therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of each individual she works with.

Specializing in trauma and anxiety, Meghan particularly enjoys working with young children. Her goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where children can express themselves and navigate challenges. She brings a warm and empathic demeanor to her sessions, fostering a strong therapeutic alliance with the clients she works with.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Meghan is a proud cat parent to two beautiful feline companions named Ross and Chandler. In her free time, she finds joy in outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, pickleball, soccer, and paddleboarding. Additionally, Meghan indulges her creative side through activities like reading, crochet, painting, and coloring. Building connections with friends and family is also a priority, as she believes in the importance of a strong support network.
