Though a midwestern transplant, Julie has made the Western Slope her home for the last sixteen years. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Prior to joining the KidStuff team, she worked primarily with college students. She loves working with children and teens of all ages, and especially with their parents! She hopes clients leave their time together feeling heard and understood. Furthermore, Julie believes that clients are the expert on themselves and that counseling goals are focused on helping them create the kind of rich, full, and meaningful life that they strive for.
Her interests center on issues related to social justice, emotional, physical, and spiritual abuse, and trauma. She draws from an eclectic array of techniques such as DBT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based stress reduction. She has also completed the Gottman Institute’s Level 2 Training and uses methods based on the Gottman’s 40 years of couples’ research. She is a National Counselor Certified through the National Board of Certified Counselors.
In her spare time, Julie loves to cook, bake, write, and exercise. She is wholly devoted to books and orange cats and gets hooked on funny, geeky TV shows.
