Luke is currently enrolled in the Couple’s, Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s program at UNC and graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. There he learned the value of the Person-Centered approach toward therapy and learned about Narrative Therapy from his mentor Travis (Dr. Heath).

Learning that people are not the problem, the problem is the problem, has been an important focus in Luke’s work with children and adults. His view is that reclaiming the lives and voices people have lost due to a problems influence on the story of themselves, others, and their relationships is an important foundation of therapy. Respect, trust, and the therapeutic relationship are also important virtues for Luke when doing therapy. The individual/family is the expert as to what may heal them, while the therapist is the expert in receiving and respecting what is being said (and not said). It is with this dynamic that Luke hopes that an alliance can be made, and interventions can be found to leverage support against the problem.

At KidStuff Luke is dedicated to learning and growing with the staff, families and children coming into the office. Each person and family system are unique and need their own therapy designed around their needs, goals and abilities. Luke also feels that a person’s/family’s identity and culture are important to consider and work with in the context of the therapy session and society.

For fun Luke likes to go to coffee or tea shops so he may write and read. While he isn’t doing that, Luke also spends his time playing piano, climbing, dancing, and meditating.
